Video Stats is a Chrome extension that overlays real-time technical playback statistics (resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, buffer health, and similar metrics) on top of video elements on the page you're viewing.
None. Video Stats does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal, sensitive, or browsing data, and it has no server or backend of any kind.
The extension uses Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API to remember your display preferences on your own device only:
This data never leaves your browser, is never transmitted anywhere, and contains nothing about you personally — only interface preferences.
To display playback statistics, the extension reads information already exposed by the browser's standard HTMLVideoElement and MediaSource APIs for video elements present on the page (e.g., resolution, playback rate, buffered ranges, codec information). This information is displayed to you locally in the overlay panel and is never stored beyond the current page session or transmitted anywhere.
Video Stats does not use any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking services. It makes no network requests of its own.
